The truth about Penny Lane...

Well...I just know all the emails and crap I got from Billy about not wanting to deal with the YAHOO GROUP anymore. As for Billy starting nonsense...they don't even know if it was him as for as I know...it was just a hunch. As far as whinning...I was there...and the only whinning I saw was Billy and Ray....bringing in all the Billy Layne crap into the board..That was the only whinning that went on. I soon left after everyday being a Billy Layne knock fest between them two. Feel free to let him know me RAGGZ as I was on the board said all this. Cuz I know what I saw.

Wasn't there something else about this band that walked the line of "controversy"??? I just remember us talking about them on the old board for some reason, and it being a big ol' stinkfest. Something about people playing/not playing on the stuff maybe???

For the record, I reviewed the Ray C cd and wasn't overly impressed. I like Penny Lane. Very simplistic, yet catchy (they weren't what I'd call groundbreaking). Too bad they had all that stuff happen when they wanted to release a proper cd and all. Who was it that said that about them, Carl??? I remember that controversy too.

It was a person who supposedly knew them. I think it was that they didn't write their own stuff, or it was somebody else and they slapped their name on it. Who accused them of it, I a can't remember.

Somebody who supposedly was at the practices. The band showed up here, or a few guys did, and they knew who it was that was making the accusations.

yeah, thats it..someone(supposedly) at the rehearsals said they did'nt even perform the music on the demos...i believe it was also said they never played a live show...Sandi, that's too bad about that e.p. not being released...been wanting to hear something else from this band forever. i was told by Ray that there is also a live video...but, he did'nt want to let it out to the public.....and Billy said there are tons of old Penny Lane rough recordings...some are not full songs....but he did'nt want to let 'em out and have them being bootlegged or sold on e-bay.

YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD WANT PPL TO HAVE THE SONGZ .... WELL DAYUM .. I SEE A CD OF THEM EVERYNOW AND THEN ON E-BAY AND IT'S SOMEWHERE FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM AND THEY WANT LIKE 45 BUCKS CASH ONLY WITH 0 FEEDBACK AND THAT AINT HAPPENING . Usually I agree with Kat, but this time I didn't. A couple of years ago, Ray from Penny Lane asked me to send him one of my cdrs of the old Penny Lane demos because all of his copies were in storage in New Jersey. I did, and he was blown away by how great the quality was. I told him Marky Glam has cleaned up my demo tape and made it sound perfect...

Ray and Billy liked what they heard so much that they did a website and printed up a very limited edition of the old Penny Lane demos. It went very well EXCEPT:

Everyone got to arguing like they so frequently do here, and posting all kinds of shit on their message board. The old guitarist Billy (Christy) Lane started wanting royalties and started posting nonsense on the board, etc. The truth is, Gash and Ray only did it because the fans wanted it, then when the fans got it, they whined like a bunch of babies. Nobody make a dime off of it. Ray was even going to release an EP of material Penny Lane recorded in the early 90's of songs that NOBODY even know existed. THEY SMOKE! However, because what started out as something nice to do for the fans turned into a bunch of whining babies and name calling, Gash and Ray said screw it...That's the REAL story...

And as far as thier new stuff sucking, I'll say this...I don't like Gash's music at ALL, but Ray's solo cd is amazing pop...Great stuff...

Well, i don't know what went on with all the Penny Lane stuff on their site or whatever, but i alwayz loved that band'z music.

I checked out the Ray C stuff the other day too and it was pretty cool!
